Fields that appear in the file but have no corresponding column can be ignored and any number of fields can be ignored. By default, no fields are ignored.
The ‘i’ switch is used to define which fields are ignored.
Records that contain too few fields can be ignored. For example, it is possible to ignore extra records caused by extraneous record delimiters.
Records that lead with a specified character can also be ignored. For example, it is possible to ignore records that start with a special comment character (such as a hash character) as the first non-whitespace character.
By default, records are not ignored.
The ‘I’ switch is used to enable ignoring of records.
