When a new instance node is first created it will be in a detached state (D). When an instance node is attached to an edge node it will enter a provisioning state (P) while it synchronizes itself with the catalog servers and any sibling instance nodes. Thereafter, an instance node will attain a live status (L) when synchronization is complete.
An instance node is only available for query when it has reached a live status.
